HI YO SILVER Y LA MANCHA MÁS PERRA Y, CRISTALES, CHILACAYOTES Y BOMBONES SEGÚN BERNARDINO Y SU AMIGO FLORENTINO – Fernando García Correa

MAIN ROOM
May-June, 2018

Arróniz Arte Contemporáneo presents the second solo exhibition in the gallery of Fernando García Correa (Mexico, 1958).

For this show the artist has selected a series of works (two-dimensional and three dimensional) that review diverse thematic axes developed throughout his career. The drawings that compose the exhibition, show the interest of García Correa for the line as process of concretion of thought. Traces accumulated in a certain surface, generate plots that become little by little in local landscapes of minimalist characteristics, and with an obvious interest in technique. Likewise, these accumulated traces are perceived, in a natural way, in the sculptures made with minerals (onyx and calcites) that the artist presents as evidence of a manufacturing process away from industrial media, also defined by the use of local materials (Oaxaca, Puebla) and the physical possibilities of his own body. Finally, the relation shape – vestige is perceived in the collages and floor pieces inserted in the gallery as a kind of production memory. Dry acrylic remains of irregular appearance, are manifested as a dialogue of its production with waste and accident, also part of his work process where the randomness of the forms prevails.

HI YO SILVER Y LA MANCHA MÁS PERRA Y, CRISTALES, CHILACAYOTES Y BOMBONES SEGÚN BERNARDINO Y SU AMIGO FLORENTINO, is exhibited as a research on various plastic solutions that start from the artist’s interest in drawing as a generator of concepts and ideas.

Fernando García Correa lives and Works in Mexico City, is an active member of the National System of Creators of the National Institute of Fine Arts.
