ZONA DE INDIFERENCIA, MARIO PALACIOS KAIM

[Projects Room and Terrace]

MAY. 2022

Zone of indifference, is a set of polyester fabrics exposed to the sun under cut steel plates of car armor – the plates were kindly donated by the Mexican company Ballistic Group in 2015 and for its sun exposure, Juan Carlos García Salas provided the roof of his house, located in the forests near Valle de Bravo.

Self-taught, the artist originally from Mexico City, has a long history that includes painting, drawing, printing, packaging, installation and actionism. And his artistic production is in public and private collections, both domestic and foreign. Symbolic concepts, spatial notions and visual elements brought into play by Palacios Kaim are, among others: the sign, the particle, the tension, the force, the stability, the rupture, the rhythm, the simultaneity and interaction. The artist builds images – abstract and diagrammatic – of existing bodies in a symbolic version of the Cartesian Plane, which can be interpreted in astral, mental or merely formal.
